Why Don’t I Like…?
WHY DON’T I LIKE BOB IN ACCOUNTS/MY AUNT MURIAL/MY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOUR?
It is a rare person who has never had a personality clash with someone else. It is a rare person who gets on with absolutely everyone.
At least if we know why we don’t get on with someone, we might be able to do something about it. I have been involved in numerous cases where people have been in conflict or simply did not get on with each other. In the best cases, people walk out arm in arm laughing because they now understand each other. At worst, they now know that they are never going to get on and agree to part company. Not uncommonly at this stage, on reasonably good terms. The most common result is an understanding and tolerance, whereby two people may never become bosom buddies but they now know that they can work together.
In childhood, many people were taught “treat others as you would like to be treated”.
But that only works if you are like me.
For example, I walk quickly, talk quickly, eat quickly and think quickly,
So I follow that rule, I should treat slow people the way I want to be treated.
Clearly, that doesn’t make much sense.
It is much more sensible to interact with people in a way most appropriate to their personality.
But how do you know someone else’s personality? Well, that is where psychometric profiling comes into it!
I’ll go into the four main personality types in future articles.
Until then…..
