What Is Psychometric Profiling?
The word ‘psychometric’ comes from two Greek words, ‘psyche’ which means soul or mind and ‘metria,’ which means measure. So, psychometric means to measure the soul or mind.
Today, there are two types of psychometric profiles, clinical and occupational.
Clinical profiles are used to scientifically examine and test people’s behaviour and to identify any psychological problems.
Occupational instruments have been developed specifically to measure and test people’s behaviour at work. There are several ways of obtaining this information but the best known is Ipsative. Ipsative profiles work on the premise that no-one knows you better than you know yourself and so they measure people in terms of their own perception. Therefore, not only can they reveal how you see yourself but how you come across to others.
