Organise Your Thoughts: Make Plans
Life can be so full of things we need to do, have to do and want to do, that at times it can seem overwhelming.
My life coaching clients have spoken again and again about how the amount of things they have on their minds often troubles them at night and makes it difficult for them to “switch off” and fall asleep.
The usual suggestion of keeping a pad and pen by your bedside so you can alleviate your mind of your thoughts by writing them down, thereby reassuring your mind that you have taken action to remember these thoughts for the morning, tends to work well with tasks.
Yet, if you have ideas, projects and activities, that require a level of organisation and this is overwhelming your mind, whether during the day or at night, a simple method to help you relax and manage the situation is to create a plan. This could be a plan of actions that need to be taken care of, a timetable of when tasks need to be completed by, detail what can be delegated to who and what you need to do yourself, a description of what the final outcome will include, or what it will look like.
These are just some ideas of how to address parts of a project that your mind is working on.
By structuring your thoughts, by giving yourself a plan for the things that need to be done, it is highly likely that you will find your thoughts are calmer and you feel less overwhelmed by it all.
