NLP is a powerful and effective method of changing communication at all levels, using a set of tools and techniques based on language to change how you think and what you think, which in turn can dramatically transform the results you create in your life.
NLP was created in the format that we know it today, in the 1970s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder; they modelled human excellence, at the University of California at Santa Cruz, including the linguistic and behaviour patterns of leading people, initially in the area of psychology. They were able to identify what these people did that made them effective so that these patterns could be precisely defined and explicitly taught.
NLP enables you to better understand how you run your brain and how this impacts how you feel and what you do. When you know better you can do better… and you will achieve the outcomes you desire.
NLP can assist you to identify negative emotions as well as limiting beliefs, limiting behaviours, lack of self confidence and old patterns; using simple and effective techniques, powerful and lasting changes can be made in your life.
There are various levels of NLP practitioners, from regular Practitioners, Master Practitioners and those who have trained as trainers. An NLP practitioner can enhance their NLP knowledge by attending many of the workshops and seminars run all over the world by highly trained, experienced and successful NLP-ers.
Additional skills NLP practitioners may also be able to offer clients is Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and Sequential Mind Technology™
Ericksonian hypnotherapy is modelled on the renowned hypnotherapist, Dr Milton Erickson, famous for his unique approach to the phenomenon of hypnosis. By keeping his work completely client centred, he was able to achieve effective and consistent results for his patients using a form of conversational hypnosis. This included metaphor, confusion techniques and the hypnotic trance, Dr. Erickson enabled his patients to tap into their inner consciousness, wherein lie the answers and resources needed to improve the quality of life.
Hypnosis is important in NLP because the mind stores all its memories, emotions, and data about self and the world in its unconscious mind. Trance is used to reach this part of the mind effectively, and it can make a big difference in many areas including self confidence.
The experience of being hypnotised is described by most as extremely relaxing and pleasurable. This is because trance is simply a state of deep relaxation and internal focus. The suggestions you receive while in trance are designed to assist you in accessing the internal wisdom inherent in all human beings. You leave your hypnosis session feeling energized and with a feeling of inner peace. You also gain valuable insights and direction concerning behaviour patterns that you would like to change.
Hypnosis is perfectly safe; unlike the image it receives through the general media, where the hypnosis applied is known as ‘clinical’ hypnosis. You can remember or be aware of everything that happens while you are deeply relaxed and in a state of trance. Your mind would not allow you to do anything you did not want to, therefore you are always in control, even while in trance, and you can return to full and alert consciousness at any time.
Sequential Mind Technology™ is a modern and streamlined use of Time Line techniques. Time Line has always been an essential ingredient of NLP and originally modelled by Connirae and Steven Andreas in 1984.
SMT™ is a set of techniques that refers to a progression or systematic sequence when operated in a certain way and direction make significant lasting change. Each component of this sequence can be defined in terms of a particular moment, and any changes in the order leads to change of the event, memory and possible gestalt.
SMT™ allows the unconscious mind to scan, search and recover without becoming distracted in having the mind think. It does not get bogged down in wondering if areas of the past were from past life, childhood, in the womb or genealogical in nature. This leaves the conscious mind as an observer. SMT™ has taken Time Line to the next level of creativity.
Life coaching and NLP work well together to bring about the best of techniques to work on changing emotions, limiting belief, self confidence and many other things.
