I feel like a fraud!
Working as a life coach with professionals in a variety of industries is very inspiring and very interesting too.
You may be surprised to hear that sometimes very senior successful people, who are well-known in their field, in their organisations for what they do, do not feel comfortable in their own skin with their success, in the role that they are in.
Often I hear clients say to me “I feel like a fraud!” and “I’m afraid I’ll be found out!!”
This can stem from a feeling of “not good enough”, or a lack of self-esteem, or low self-confidence feelings; most often found in very high achievers, who are constantly on the path to do more, to achieve more to push themselves further and this can drive them to do so.
Yet with this feeling there can be a strong sense of on-going dissatisfaction, lack of inner fulfilment, always striving and never arriving; although logically this isn’t true, this could be how the person experiences it.
Whether they use coaching to change how they perceive themselves or any other form of personal development, the most important aspect is that we learn to value ourselves, whatever we are doing in life, whatever our role.
What causes us to not feel “good enough” – this blog looks at our mother’s influence.
Yours,
Natalie Dee
