People talk about the “can do” attitude, that internal spirit or energy that motivates and encourages us to do those things we want to do.
What is the essence of the “can do” attitude? Where does it come from? How is it that some people have it and others seem not to?
I see this a lot with my life coaching clients, there are those who feel they “can do” and they do do, and there are those who are not so sure, not as confident about what they can do.
From what I’ve seen in my work, it can be linked to what we heard as children from our parents at home, or from teachers at school; and for some people it can simply be their own personal approach to life, a decision they made, somewhere deep inside, somewhere in their past, which left them with the “can do” attitude for life.
Whether or not you have a “can do” attitude, there is a lot you can do, even if right now it doesn’t feel that way, life coaching has shown me and my clients that even those who are not so sure about what they can do, can do a lot more than they initially imagined.
A little tip on this subject would be: believe you can – so many people put themselves down, tell me or anyone who will listen, all the reasons why they think they can’t do something and then they prove themselves right – they cannot or do not do it!
Simply believe it is possible, that if one person can, you can too and although when we start something new or different or something very challenging, we don’t always know exactly how we are going to do it, that is part of the learning and development. Simply believe and then, simply start.
Whatever you now believe you can do, you may not get it completely right the very first time, but then who does? How many cakes does a baker throw away before they learn to make the perfect cake? How many goals does a footballer miss before they become a successful superstar footballer? What appears to us to be success often has hours, days, months or even years of practice and training.
Every person can do, and so can you! Start now on something you want to do, and start with the belief and then simply start doing.
