Commuting Habits in the UK

According to the latest report about commuting, reported on the bbc.co.uk today, the average person takes 30 minutes to get to work and most people, except Londoners, travel by car – well, that’s quite obvious, considering…
I always wonder how they work out this kind of information…
If you’re one of the few who takes over an hour to get to work, you may find this research unrealistic, not very helpful and even frustrating.
So, what are the benefits of having a longer journey than half an hour? How can you make good use of the time?
Some people use it to “switch off” between work and home; to think through activities from their day; to read, relax, meditate, focus on their goals or plans for the next days or weeks ahead.
The BBC website has a page of Tips on How to Make Commuting Bearable, although they clearly need to update it with information on the ipad!!
If you are able to see the benefits in what you have and what you do, whether it’s a long commute or anything else in your life, then stress and tension is likely to be lessened and the experience by default becomes more acceptable and manageable.
