Love Tennis! Men’s Finals 2011 French Open
I love playing tennis… only thing is I’m not very good at it!
Watching Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer play in the men’s finals at the 2011 French Open (also known as Roland Garros) yesterday was hugely inspiring.
I watched how they moved, darted across the court, how they held and swung their racquets, how they positioned the ball so perfectly to make it as challenging as possible for their opponent.
The more I watched, the more I wanted to get hold of my own tennis racquet and play.
I wanted to make the moves they make, to swing the racquet in the way they do, to play with as much grace, speed and skill as I saw them doing.
If only…
By watching, by absorbing, I was not only inspired and excited, I felt motivated to take action, to do more, to practice more, and to at least try to copy one or two moves I’d seen them do repeatedly.
That’s how we learn.
Humans learn by copying, mimicking, practising, repeating… and that’s what I’m going to do.
I’ll never play like Nadal or Federer, that’s not the point; I will play better than I have played before, with time, focus and practice and I will be able to up my own game in comparison to where I am today.
So can you, in whatever is important to you, in whatever you choose to do.
All the best,
Natalie Dee
