Self-Encouragement
We start our lives being encouraged to do new things; as babies we’re encouraged to walk, as toddlers to speak and to draw, as infants to write and do sport and we are generally given positive feedback to give us the motivation and enthusiasm to do it again and again.
The unconscious mind is like a little child, it responds well, positively to good feedback, acknowledgement and recognition.
As we get older, past our teens, into our twenties and further on in our lives, we are given less positive and encouraging feedback, if at all.
Yet, this feedback is so very important and needed because it is another “push” to help us achieve goals, be motivated, focused and successful.
Instead of waiting for feedback and encouragement, instead of relying on others, you can give yourself feedback and encouragement.
Every time you do well at something, anything, getting to work on time, completing a task at work, doing a workout, or attending a session at the gym, whatever it is, you can pat yourself on the back and quietly say to yourself “well done me!” It’s simple, and it works.
Many people talk about feeling not “good enough” – this blog looks at our mother’s influence.
All the best,
Natalie Dee
