What Others Think of Me Matters, A Life Coaching Perspective
Worried about what other people thing of you?
As a life coach, this is a common issue that I hear again and again in coaching sessions with my clients.
Many of us fear being scrutinised, judged and criticised. And even if we can’t hear it we second guess others and decide that that is what they are doing.
One thing I know for sure is that we cannot actually know what other people are thinking if they don’t tell us. To spend, or maybe it would be more appropriate to say ‘waste’, time, effort and energy, imagining we know what other people are thinking really is rather ridiculous.
Yet so many people do this.
What does it tell us? Firstly, that there is an inherent sense of lack of self worth in the person who has these thoughts, which is worth addressing and changing, since it really does drain a person mentally and emotionally.
And secondly, that very possibly, the person with these thoughts is judgemental and critical of others!!
Instead of wasting your thoughts and emotions on such negative and destructive thinking, take stock of what causes you to think and feel this way and do something about it for yourself. You will benefit the most if you can reach a point in your life where you feel good about yourself to the point where you can let go of worrying what others think of you.
I know how it feels, I’ve been there too and I also know you can change this.
Whether you choose to work with me or find other resources to help you get there, it’s worth doing something about this, and it will free you up to focus your mind and attention on more useful things in your life.
