Life Coach London – 3 Top Tips to Boost Your Self Esteem

Are you one of the many people looking to boost your self-esteem? Perhaps you are unmotivated or too harsh on yourself, leaving you feeling guilty and lost. Hopefully this article will give you some great ways to increase your self-esteem and leave you feeling more positive and empowered.

Tip One.

This first tip is about blame. Generally people with a low self-esteem often blame other people for the way things have turned out in their life. Although this may be a little difficult to do it is important to take responsibility for your own life. If something goes wrong, acknowledge and accept it, then learn from your mistakes and move forward. Don’t waste time creating negative energy by blaming someone else.

Accepting responsibility for your own life is very empowering and by learning from your mistakes you can channel your life instantly in a more positive and empowering direction, instantly boosting your self esteem.

Tip Two.

This next tip is about guilt. People often feel guilty about many things in their life from eating chocolate, to napping in the middle of the day, right through to personal and professional relationships. Now is the time to release your guilt as holding onto it will only paralyse you. Do not feel guilty about making mistakes, as mentioned in tip number one simply learn from them and move forward – life is too short.

Tip Three.

Finally it is absolutely imperative that you celebrate success. Do this no matter how small or large your successes are and of course do this on a daily basis. You can celebrate anything from arriving at work early, spending quality time with loved ones and friends, organising your office or gaining that promotion. I find it incredibly motivating to look back through my day and list all of the successes I have – there are at least 5 to 6 things I celebrate every day and it is incredibly effective if you want to boost your self-esteem.

Natalie, thanks for sharing this. What you talk about reminds me of the concept of “self acceptance”. Of accepting that that is is OK to be who you are without blame, while at the same time admitting you want to grow as a person and reach more than you currently are, and taking responsibility for it.

One thing I have found very useful is to celebrate meaningful successes. Rather than celebrate every little thing that goes right, work towards achievements that are not too hard, or too easy, (“Goldilocks tasks”). I like to do this with Habits, and I wrote afree habit tracker web app: HabitualApp. to help keep track of them. I have also written a bit about how to use habits to work on self esteem.
