Presentations: Your Audience – Your Mirror
People mirror us; those traits we like in others, exist in us too;those traits we dislike in others, we dislike in ourselves too, although we tend not to see or admit to those!
Many clients who I work with are required to do presentations at work, and they tend to feel anxious, nervous and unconfident about this.
They have seen that their inner discomfort is reflected by one or other person in the audience; so instead of concentrating on their own emtoions they have learnt to shift their focus to their audience, and take responsibility for making their audience feel more relaxed, more at ease.
This has a double positive impact, because when the audience is happier, this again reflects back on the presenter!
Remember, move the focus away from you and onto your audience; they’ll be more relaxed and so will you!
