Does Life Begin at 40?
I remember when I was much younger people often used the phrase “life begins at 40” and I remember that feeling of really looking forward to being 40!
Now that I am 40-something, I hear people talk about “mid-life crisis” or people in their 30s who are “afraid of turning 40”.

.. My 1st ever home-grown tomatoes ..
Yes, if you’re worried about a “mid-life crisis” you’ll probably have one!
And yes, if you are afraid that life stops at 40, you’ll probably stop doing things because that’s what you’ve told yourself!
The age set by the number of years we are alive on this earth has nothing to do with what we can and cannot do at any age or stage in our lives.
You are completely free and capable of starting new things, applying yourself with zest, energy and enthusiasm, to anything you choose to do, whether you are 20, 40, 60 or any age.
Yes, there may be others who do things differently or better than you, maybe because they started earlier in their life or because they spend more time doing it. Remember to only compare yourself to yourself, therefore you only ever progress from where you were.
I started growing tomatoes for the first time ever this year – Tesco helped with a tomato plant! And when I saw my first tomatoes appear I was so very excited!! Yes, others do have big successful vegetable patches and I’ve only just started; and in comparison to myself, this is a wonderful and fulfilling achievement in itself.
Personally, in my life, I am doing more now, in different ways and with a different approach, to what I did in my 20s and 30s. I believe it’s a combination of timing, interests, life stages and attitude amongst other things.
Yours,
Natalie Dee

Congrats on growing your first tomatoes. Wait until you taste them, then you will feel even more excited.
There’s something amazing about growing fuel for your body all by yourself. Maybe its a sense of being able to support yourself in the rawest form of the meaning!
Check out this post here that mentions comparing yourself to other people – http://www.natalie-dee.com/2011/07/25/confidence-over-40/

Good for you VK!!
Exercise is good for the soul, makes us feel good about ourselves and keeps us healthy!
All the best,

Natalie you are inspiring to those of us over 60. I am like many in my generation of “Boomers” who feel we aren’t finished yet. I feel as though I still have a lot more to share. As long as there are those that want to listen to my experienced views I will share. By reading and being open to what you and others like you have to share at your age in life, I will stay relevant.
Thank you Nancy, and lovely to hear where you are at and how you feel.
I agree, and have seen examples of people in even more advanced years, that are more active and involved in their lives than some people in their 20s and 30s.
We are all relevant, we make our own lives relevant and fulfilling, it is our choice to be so and to do so.
All the best,
Natalie
